On the occasion of the International “Girls in ICT” Day on 25th April, the European Internet Foundation (EIF) and the European Commission hosted a joint lunch meeting in the European Parliament, followed by a hearing on “Women in ICT”. WIL members Sylvie Laffarge, Director of Corporate Affairs at Microsoft EMEA, and Afke Schaart, Senior Director of EU Institutional Relations at Microsoft, report from the event.

On 4th March 2013, the European Commission launched a Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs, calling on Europe's digital businesses, governments, training and education sectors to join, and to address the projected deficit of 900 000 skilled ICT workers expected in Europe by 2015.
