A second successful Women Talent Pool workshop took place on Friday, 22nd March at the premises of Microsoft France. It was led by Irène Papaligouras, founder of Leaders Excellence Partners, a strategic human resources start-up, focused on a predicative and proactive audit of leadership competencies. Under the motto “Mirror Yourself in Your Leadership Style”, nine Emerging Leaders participated in a session aimed at assessing and developing their specific leadership style.

On 11th March, a dinner debate on “Women and Power”, organized by Thaima Samman, WIL President and Partner of Cabinet Samman together with Evelyn Gessler, President of Club L Benelux, took place at the “Cercle Gaulois” in Brussels.

WIL member Delphine Ernotte was appointed Executive Vice-president of Orange France by Stéphane Richard, newly appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of France Telecom – Orange. She was previously acting as Deputy Executive Vice President for operations in France alongside Stéphane Richard.

While MEPs’ demands for implementing gender quotas in the EU diplomatic service may delay its launch, Commissioner Reding, as part of the new strategy, aims at opening a dialogue with CEOs on how best to achieve gender equality in company boardrooms.

The European Commission has placed sustainable growth at the core of its strategy for 2020. This strategy must foster ways to cut green house gas by 20%, while heavily supporting R&D in a more and more competitive global market. While targets seem extremely challenging, it is worth acknowledging that more women are sharing decision-making powers in key sectors for the future.

Marina Niforos was one of the co-founding partners of WIL while she was at INSEAD, and will be assuming new responsibilities as Managing Director at American Chamber of Commerce in France as of September 6th, 2010. Marina will be responsible for running the operations of the business association on a day-to-day basis.

French economic newspaper La Tribune recently launched an award recognizing women shaping the French business environment. WIL is honoured to have two outstanding members selected by La Tribune.Out of the 42 candidates, fifteen successful women will be distinguished for their successes and will be profiled in the September editions of the newspaper, before the jury and the public make their final choices.

As the new acting Director for Communication Actions and Head of Unit Communication Strategy and Projects, her responsibilities will concern research, media monitoring and analysis, audiovisual services, media networks, and the development of the inter-institutional website Europa.
