TRIESTE, ITALY - On October 29th, WIL participated at the Global Forum in ICT conference by hosting a breakfast session focused on “Women’s Careers in the Digital Age”, which looked at two aspects, the first being the opportunities offered in the Digital Sector and the second focused on best practices from companies what is being done to encourage and retain women in digital sector.

On September 20th, Directorate General of the French Treasury, held a French language seminar together with WIL focused on “Women’s paths to success in the economic and financial field of senior administration”.

On the 28 of November, WIL is hosting a high-level breakfast session on Financial Regulatory Reforms in Brussels at the Renaissance Hotel, with special guest speaker Nadia Calviño, Deputy Head of Directorate-General Internal Market and Services of the European Commission.

On the 13th of December, 2013 the second edition of the “Forum de la Mixité” opens its doors in Paris. The event is organised by CONNCECTIN Women and gathers major actors who promote workplace diversity and are dedicated to the professional success of women and gender issues.

The next WIL Biannual Meeting will take place on Friday, 6 December 2013, at Westminster Palace in London, thanks to the very kind invitation of the Pink Shoe Club, our friends and hosts at the House of Lords. The event will be co-organized with their help and our partners from Washington DC, GlobalWIN. Plus, on the afternoon of Thursday 5 December 2013, the closing session of the first Women Talent Pool edition invites members and emerging leaders to gather in London.
14 June 2013 - Rome
On 14 June, the European Network for Women in Leadership (WIL) held its first biannual meeting in Rome, Italy, in the magnificent locations of Villa Medici and Palazzo Farnese. Over one hundred prestigious guests from all over Europe and beyond took the opportunity to share prolific ideas on Innovation and Competitiveness 2.0 with a plethora of high-level speakers that innovate or leverage growth in sectors as varied as information and communication technology, energy, medicine, education or international affairs.
14 June 2013 - Rome
Prior to the WIL Biannual Event hosted at the Villa Medici, WIL members and Emerging Leaders gathered in Rome for a very special Women Talent Pool session to discuss the question of how to adapt one’s leadership style to a complex, challenging world. Thanks to the Scientific and Economic Mission of the French Embassy in Italy, this meeting could take place in the impressive Palazzo Farnese, and the Ambassador himself came to open the session and to encourage the young talents in their endeavors.

On the occasion of the first WIL Biannual Meeting in 2013 in Rome, WIL took the opportunity to gather its members for the Annual Ordinary General Assembly, taking place in the morning of 14th June at Palazzo Farnese. This meeting allowed WIL members to get informed about WIL’s activities and progress.

Under the motto “Driving the Digital Future: Opportunities for Communities, Citizens & Businesses - Towards Global Solutions”, the 22nd Global Forum will take place in Trieste, Italy. WIL will organize its own session.

A second successful Women Talent Pool workshop took place on Friday, 22nd March at the premises of Microsoft France. It was led by Irène Papaligouras, founder of Leaders Excellence Partners, a strategic human resources start-up, focused on a predicative and proactive audit of leadership competencies. Under the motto “Mirror Yourself in Your Leadership Style”, nine Emerging Leaders participated in a session aimed at assessing and developing their specific leadership style.

On 11th March, a dinner debate on “Women and Power”, organized by Thaima Samman, WIL President and Partner of Cabinet Samman together with Evelyn Gessler, President of Club L Benelux, took place at the “Cercle Gaulois” in Brussels.

Held for the first time in Germany, on 24th of November, WIL biannual event was held in a pro-European environment, where prominent speakers, WIL members, guests and members of the Network European Movement Germany, which partnered with us for this event, exchanged their views on the current status of European Union and discussed possible solutions to regain the European strength.

On 7th of December 2011, at Amcham’s offices, we had the pleasure to host yet another breakfast organized by the Women Leaders’ Taskforce, created through the joint effort of Amcham and WIL. The meeting was an opportunity to discuss the current initiatives regarding financial regulation and the underlying challenges.

On 6 October, the European Network for Women in Leadership (WIL), in cooperation with Administration Moderne, the French association of female high civil servants and the American Chamber of Commerce in France held a high-level debate around the topic of governance. Over 70 high-profile attendees joined us at Swisslife Banque Privée to discuss and propose solutions to improve governance in the context of the financial crisis, which go beyond the sole use of quotas on Boards.

The issue of governance attracted over 60 participants to the WIL biannual meeting and its first general assembly, July 5. Event host CEO and Chairman of France Télécom Stéphane Richard, engaged in a dialogue on measures taken by his Board to establish a more gender-balanced leadership after the severe socio-economic crisis.

Financial regulations, the single market and corporate governance were the three pillars of economic growth discussed at a luncheon with WIL Brussels-based members by Sharon Bowles, Chair Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs in the European Parliament, and Paulina Dejmek, Member of Cabinet of Commissioner for Internal Market and Services Michel Barnier.

More than 50 France-based WIL members and friends, including the Club ITW, a high-level French group of women in IT, and the Women Equity (WE) network, had an extremely productive exchange of views with Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet, French Secretary of State for Strategic Studies and the Development of the Digital Economy, regarding the differing means of breaking the glass ceiling.

First time in London, WiL convened 50 women business developers and stakeholders from European and national public institutions at a location no less prestigious or symbolic than the House of Lords.

Ably hosted by Member of the European Parliament Edit Herczog, WiL convened seven most distinguished new Members of the European Parliament together with private sector members of the network, academics as well as the European Commission members.

On March 5th, the WiL network hosted a lunch during Microsoft’s Growth and Innovation day. The members had a chance to catch up and discuss about the future actions, particularly for the mentoring program.

The WiL network launched its mentoring program during its meeting in the context of the EU French Presidency. WiL partnered with Silicon Sentier, JADE and AIESEC, three international youth organizations to support high potential young women.
